A comprehensive range of laboratory testing services are available via our Clinic. We use a range of laboratories and we have included some of our more common assessments here. Tests are sometimes recommended following a nutritional therapy consultation, if relevant. However, testing is not compulsory to the consultation process as we gain a lot of information from a very comprehensive and lengthy online functional questionnaire in addition to the consultation appointment.
Food Intolerance Testing
Food intolerance testing can be done for your IgG antibody response to 208 foods. This is done via our new postal service and is done as a pin prick blood sample and is sent off to an accredited Laboratory. YorkTest has certification from the Medical Health Authority in the UK and is thus rigorously checked as a Hospital Standard Scientific Laboratory.

IgE testing is available for 23 foods and 19 environmental allergens. The RRP is £199. More information on request.

Hormone Testing
We offer a comprehensive range of hormone tests including Genova Diagnostics Comprehensive Thyroid Assessment, Genova Diagnostics Adrenocortex Stress Profile and The DUTCH Test ( Dried Urine Test For Comprehensive Hormones.
DUTCH Test
This advanced hormone testing was developed to improve on available hormone testing options. DUTCH offers the most extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones along with their metabolites. Additionally, the daily (diurnal) pattern of free cortisol is included, along with melatonin (6-OHMS), 8-OHdG, and six organic acids. This unique combination of clinical information is not available by any other method. We find this test particularly helpful for hormonal challenges throughout the reproductive years and beyond. Therefore, we use it regularly for those with a history of fertility challenges, repeated miscarriage, PCOS, Endometriosis, Fibroids and oestrogen related cancers. It is also relevant to male hormonal assessment. It has been described as a 'game changer' by many functional medicine doctors because of the comprehensive range of hormones tested. As practitioners, it allows us much more targeted support.
Genova Diagnostics Adrenocortex Stress Profile
The Adrenocortex Stress Profile (ASP) provides an assessment of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis using carefully timed salivary samples of the hormones cortisol and DHEA. Salivary testing is an easy, non-invasive option to measure unbound, biologically active parent hormone levels. The report offers an easy-to-interpret graphic which plots the results of the cortisol awakening response (CAR) and the natural diurnal rhythm. Further information is available here.
Genova Diagnostics Comprehensive Thyroid Assessment
The Comprehensive Thyroid Assessment is a hormone test that provides a thorough analysis of thyroid hormone metabolism. It includes central thyroid gland regulation and activity, thyroid production and secretion, peripheral thyroid conversion, and thyroid autoimmunity. This hormone test allows the practitioner to pinpoint common imbalances that underlie a broad spectrum of chronic illness. This test analyzes serum levels of TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3, anti-TG antibodies, and anti-TPO antibodies to assess central and peripheral thyroid function, as well as thyroid auto-immunity. We also offer a comprehensive range of testing via the Thriva lab including thyroid screen with 6 analytes or the Advanced thyroid which includes full iron, B12, folate, ferritin, and vitamin D or alternatively...
Thriva full lifestyle screen which includes the aforementioned plus full cholesterol markers, omega 3 and omega 6 levels and HbA1c diabetes marker among others. These are normally recommended if relevant following a Nutritional Therapy Consultation.

Vaginal testing and Urine
Vaginal Ecology Female Ecologix test
Vaginal health and microbiome profile using quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to provide an accurate, reliable and quantifiable measurement of microbiota abundance and host inflammatory markers. This test is relevant for fertility with certain bacteria presenting challenges for fertility, miscarriage and pre-term delivery. Also relevant in chronic UTI or yeast infections and menopause.

Using State-of-the-art technology (qPCR+NGS Next Generation Sequencing) provides actionable diagnostics that can bring an end to the cycle of frustration and pain of chronically infected UTIs, Bacterial Vaginosis, Reproductive System Infections and Yeast overgrowth.
MicroGenDX offers you two detailed diagnostic reports. The first, a qPCR report, provides total bacterial load, detection of common pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes. However, qPCR will only detect the commonly known microbes selected for a qPCR panel, because of this, qPCR by itself can miss the dominant species in the sample up to 60% of the time.
The second report uses next-generation sequencing (NGS). NGS technology matches microbes detected in samples to a database of 50,000+ species, providing a clear representation of the relative abundance of microbes in each sample, offering insight into dominant pathogens and a more complete picture. In addition, the qPCR+NGS report offers antimicrobial resistance genes for all major classes of antimicrobials to aid in treatment considerations

Genova Diagnostics NutrEval Nutrient Analysis
NutrEval FMV (First Morning Void) test identifies key nutritional deficiencies. Mycotoxins, produced by certain mold species, are some of the most prevalent toxins and can come from many sources including buildings, vehicles, and food.

GPL Tox
The GPL-TOX Profile is a comprehensive assessment of exposure to environmental pollutants. This urine-based assay screens for 173 toxicants through 18 metabolites, including Tiglyglycine, a key marker for mitochondrial damage often associated with chronic toxin exposure. By utilizing advanced mass spectrometry (LC/MS), the GPL-TOX Profile is able to detect lower levels of certain genetic, mitochondrial, and toxic chemical markers that conventional mass spectrometry may miss.
THRIVA testing
We also offer a comprehensive range of blood testing via Thriva which can be done at home as finger prick blood samples or can be done as venous blood if preferred. It includes full thyroid with antibodies, cholesterol, HbA1c, Vitamin D, B12, folate, full iron, omega 3 and 6, sex hormones, stress hormones and many more. We can also organise bespoke tests via the lab to combine analytes as preferred.
