As my honours degree included Psychology, I found myself quite by accident working in Medical Sales in the pharmaceutical industry, firstly in Psychiatry and shortly afterwards in Diabetes and Gastroenterology. But, it was a move to the far north of Scotland twenty four years ago that sowed a seed in me which was to become a lifelong journey into Health in its broadest sense as I just happened to move next door to Scotland’s first qualified Medical Herbalist.
During my Caithness years I was also privileged to develop my other passions as again quite by accident an opportunity presented itself to start my own Dance and Drama school, writing and producing many shows.
A move to Aberdeen eleven years ago brought new beginnings and life seemed determined to take me back into the Pharmaceutical Industry. This time I found myself working in Osteoporosis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and finally Diabetes, promoting products and discussing guidelines with NHS customers. Again, there seems to have been a higher purpose to this seemingly, unplanned manoeuvre back into the medical world. The NHS had changed completely with new structures and endless guidelines and the insight I have gained has been invaluable in preparing me for my next move!
They used to say life begins at forty but personally, I’m going with 50, as what had been a hobby fast became a new career opportunity as following three years of hard graft, plus 200 clinical hours, I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist in 2014! But the study doesn't stop there.Nutritional therapyinvolves constant research and every client can be assured of a very detailed and thorough investigation. In 2015, I qualified in Cancer Nutrition with ION in London. My passion for Functional Medicine took me to the US in March 2016 to further my training and expertise and gain my AFMCP. In June 2016 I went to The Royal Society Of Medicine in London to train in Genomics Testing. This will allow me to bring my clients all that this cutting edge branch of medicine has to offer in what is undoubtedly a fast growing field. I've since trained further in Advanced Hormones with IFM and Fertility and my research into this exciting and rewarding area is ongoing. I have developed specialist knowledge in autoimmune disease and also the fascinating and growing field of Nutritional Psychiatry and recently had the great honour of being invited to give a lecture to the Royal College of Psychiatrists in York.
My own journey into Nutritional Therapy followed my daughter's experience with glandular fever at 14 years old, following which she endured several years of ill health, including chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and the severest migraines imaginable. As a mum, you will do anything when your child is so unwell and my dogged determination to find answers led me into the fascinating world of Nutritional Medicine. I tell something of our story inthis article. It is this experience which drives me as a person and as a practitioner and gives me such a strong desire to help others going through similar challenges. This really is life changing stuff and the joy from helping people uncover their own triggers and drivers and turning things around is just phenominal!

Neleta specialises mainly in women’s health, including hormonal imbalances, pre and post natal health, weight management, PCOS, endometriosis and children’s health.
She discovered a real passion for Nutrition after the birth of her son. When he began to suffer from eczema and asthma she began to build awareness of the triggers and how to overcome these health issues and symptoms on a nutritional level.
This is where her knowledge grew along with a desire to not only understand how nutrition and lifestyle can play such major factors in people’s overall health but also the desire to support people on their wellness journey! After helping support her sons own health conditions, she knew that she wanted to help other people gain the tools they need to support their own health, from getting to the route cause of their symptoms to helping to gain a better understanding of how to implement these small changes to gain big results!
Health is also about the food we eat, how we eat and enjoying the food we eat. As Neleta is also a nutritional chef she combines her passion for cooking with nourishing ingredients allowing her to help clients discover new ways to enjoy food again, making eating well simple to fit seamlessly into their busy lives.
During her time as a Nutritional Therapist Neleta has worked with many different clients including TV work, corporate clients, yoga studios, health clubs and clinics as well as one to one client work. Her passion for cooking has also led her to become a professional recipe developer, food photographer and food & nutrition chef.
